Samenvatting
Guidé par ses exigences de sincérité et par la turbulence de ses passions, Sándor Ferenczi ébranlera les limites de la psychanalyse naissante. Homme du XIXe siècle mais moderniste avant la lettre, il va tracer un chemin d’ouverture tant sur le plan clinique que sur le plan théorique. Un pas de deux prometteur l’entraîne avec Freud vers des découvertes fécondes: l’introjection, Thalassa, etc. mais il s’écartera de son maître pour glisser vers l’étiologie traumatique des névroses que Freud avait abandonnée au profit de la voie fantasmatique. Ce tournant lui valut la mise au ban de la communauté analytique mais ouvrit la voie à travers de multiples douleurs, découvertes et échecs à la psychanalyse contemporaine.

Geleid door een eis van oprechtheid en door de turbulentie van zijn passies, heeft Sandor Ferenczi de grenzen van de ontluikende psychoanalyse verlegd. Als man van de 19de eeuw, maar modernist voor zijn tijd, zou hij een nieuwe weg uittekenen, zowel op klinisch als op theoretisch niveau. Een veelbelovende pas de deux met Freud leidt hem naar ontdekkingen zoals bijvoorbeeld de introjectie en Thalas- sa. Geleidelijk zal hij zich verwijderen van zijn meester en terugkeren naar de theorie van de traumatische etiologie van de neurose, die door Freud werd verlaten ten gunste van diens opvatting over fantasie als etiologische factor. Door deze wending werd Ferenczi verbannen uit de toenmalige analytische gemeenschap. Maar ze heeft de weg geopend ook al was het een lijdensweg van ontdekkingen en mislukkingen- naar de hedendaagse psychoanalyse.

Guided by his demands for sincerity and by the turbulence of his passions, Sandor Ferenczi will shake the limits of nascent psychoanalysis; A man of the 19th century but a modernist before the letter, he will trace a path of openness both clinically and theoretically. A promising pas de deux takes him along with Freud to fruitful discoveries: introjection, Thalassa, but he will move away from his partner and then slip into the traumatic etiology of the neuroses that his master had abandoned in favor of the phantasmal path. This turning point earned him the ban from the analytical community but opened the way for us, through multiple pains, discoveries and failures, to contemporary psychoanalysis.
