Summary

Groups are present in our mind in two forms. First and originally in the form of individual and collective phantasies. Secondly in the form of structures and functions that result from the introjection of attributes that pertain to the groups in which we live.

Moreover, characteristics of groups in which we live, have an important influence upon the maintenance of our mental health.

Finally, the capacity of a group to contain the thoughts, the experiences and the intense affects of its members, is essential for the mental development of the individual members as weIl as for the development of the group.
