Summary

The author tries to circumscribe the notions of "analytic attitude" an "normal" countertransference. For doing this he proposes the concepts of maternal and paternal positions of countertransference, which he tries to define. The author stresses how harmful the maintaining of one countertransferential position can be and how the analyst should rely as much as possible on his psychic bisexuality.
