Summary

There are at least three types of research "in " psychoanalysis : those that address the practice of analysis, those that try to perfect clinical thinking, and those whose object is metapsychology.

One must also consider research "on" psychoanalysis from sociological, anthropological, epidemiological… points of view.

In particular, the author underlines research that is an interface between psychoanalysis and other approaches to the psyche : ethology, neurosciences, anthropology, mythology, and their epistemological implications.

Research on the psychoanalyticaI process, with borderline cases, based on a group disposition of supervision/research is described in detail and seeks to demonstrate that such an exploration is possible, even while respecting the theoretical and practical constraints inherent to psychoanalysis.
