A partir de son expérience psychanalytique tant individuelle que groupale, l'auteur s'interroge sur les liens entre l'individuel et le groupal, l'individuel et le familial. Réfléchissant sur la place de l'objet dans le processus d'individuation – objet qui contient, objet absent, objet qui empiète -. Il met en évidence l'importance de l'objet dans la constitution du psychisme, de la pensée et d'un espace propre à son développement pulsionnel. Dans la famille va se constituer une zone commune, espace psychique groupal, toile de fond qui servira d'enveloppe élargie aux émotions.

Vanuit haar psychoanalytische ervaring, zowel met individuele als met groepstherapie, peilt de auteur naar het verband tussen individuele en groepsfenomenen, tus sen het individuele en het familiale.
Zij bezint zich daarbij over de plaats van het object in het individuatieproces. Daarbij gaat het over het object dat bevat, het object dat afwezig is, het object dat in bezit neemt.
Uit dit alles blijkt het belang van het object voor het tot stand komen van het psychisme, van het denken en voor het creëren van een geëigende ruimte voor de driftmatige ontwikkeling.
In de schoot van de familie gaat zich een gemeenschappelijke zone ontwikkelen, een groepspsychische ruimte, een achtergrond die als een verruimd omhulsel zal dienen voor de emoties.
Summary
Starting from her psychoanalytic experience, both individual and group, the author examines the links between what is individual and what belongs to the group, between what is individual and what belongs to the family.
Reflecting upon the place of the object in the process of individuation – the object which contains, the object absent, the object which takes up space – she shows the importance of the object in the constitution of the psyche, of thinking and of a particular space for instinctual development. A common zone comes to be created in the family, a psychic space pertaining to the group which will function as background, an expanded envelope for emotions.
