Summary

The-psychoanalyst bears a double alterity : besides that which is linked to his own identity, he represents from the beginning that other which is in the interior, the Unconscious. Thus in analysis each patient is confronted with that existential crisis of recognising strangeness of which Spitz has shown the importance around the baby's eight month. A musical metaphor accompanying this whole text allows us to reflect on the dialectic of repetition-creation, of the identical and the different which far from opposing these terms, shows their indispensable intrication. The pleasure of the interpreter of music, in a tension between repetition and creation, within a triple reference to composer, audience and himself, shows how both pleasure in thinking and the repetition of the same, far from being opposites, have their origins each one within the other. The dialectic repetition-creation, of the same, the identical and of the different, is at the heart of the establishment of identity where evolutive movements and blind alleys may throw light upon the bases of certain resistances in the analysis.
