Summary

Alterity is viewed here in the context of the dialectic relationship between the same and the other, both at the intra-psychic and the interrelational levels.

It is considered in particular from the viewpoint of the third party and the analytic setting, in the perspective of the communication between the patient and the analyst, centering on the question : can the object be invested with a total alterity ?

The author supports her propositions with clinical illustrations from her practice with adults and children.
